candy sherbert.

Their novelty with sending out stuff..add a candy and few cards etc.

I always like it when companies especially smaller ones go that extra mile. Yeah it's not much but it makes the package a little bit sweeter (or in this case literally).

How was the fish? :P

After hearing about the recent passing of Thai actor, Winai Kraibutr I wanted to watch Nang Nak again. But unfortunately couldn't find the DVD anywhere, so i just re-purchased it. Thankfully, its not rare and still cheap. Also picked up Massacre Video's Orozco, the Embalmer and Disk Kino WCL blu ray of Tian-Ming Wu's Old Well.

Thought Nang Nak was quite boring. Still have the Chinese DVD of the film.

Black Mask has arrived.

As you know, Black Mask is based on a HK comic and @Futurhythm aka Dylan Cheung has translated some scans of the first 2 issues of the comic. If you want them, better do it now before the link expires.

I bought The Golden Triangle when I saw @Yihetuan purchase a few weeks ago. Bought it mainly for the black Hmong and to see 70's Siam.

I've been to the Golden Triangle myself once, to renew my Thai visa and I accidentally border crossed into Burma via a smuggling route on an afternoon walk. The Burmese town which borders that Thai border at the Golden Triangle is closed off to the locals who are only permitted to leave with an ID card. Foreigners were barred from entering further into Burma once crossing over at the border crossings.

If some Burmese junta saw me in Burma outside of this town, I would've been shot. Saw many centry towers where soldiers would stand guard.

The next morning I took the official route into Burma at the Mae Sai/Tachileik crossing, only going onto the outskirts of the town.

Most Foreigners on a visa run would only stay in the Burmese town for 2 minutes before queuing up to exit. I stayed around for a good couple of hours as I wouldn't get another chance again.

All this was before 2011 when Ang Sang Suu Kyi was released from house arrest and Myanmar opened up to tourists, before unfortunately the junta took power again 3 years ago.

Myanmar, such a beautiful country. Just off limits for now.

Remember those stories you heard at school about the long neck tribe? I completely forgot about them until I saw this woman in a Thai camp for Burmese Hmong.

Included are some other pictures of various Hmong groups which live around Northern Thailand, Laos, Vietnam. Black Hmong wear black clothing. Flower Hmong wear colourful clothing and the girl with the red head piece, I can't remember what tribe, but her headpiece is vaguely familiar to the picture of the front cover of the film.
