Member ShawAngela Posted July 23, 2023 Member Share Posted July 23, 2023 The whip seems to be often used as a weapon in martial arts movies. I know that I won't be able to list all the movies that use it, but I'm curious to know how many used it. Here is the ones I remember : The Magic whip 1968 Rattling whip 1969 Twelve gold medallions 1970 The shadow whip 1971 Chivalrous robber Li San 1972 The story of Wong Fei Hong 1949 Whiplash 1974 Killer darts 1968 The invincible eight 1971 Thunderbolt 1973 I'm not sure for Killer darts and Thunderbolt. Does anyone know of any other movies in which the whip is used as a weapon ?
Moderator One Armed Boxer Posted July 23, 2023 Moderator Share Posted July 23, 2023 Sticking purely to the classic era in which you've posted, I'd add 1979's 'Revengeful Swordswoman'.

Member starschwar Posted July 24, 2023 Member Share Posted July 24, 2023 (edited) 1949: Kwan Tak-Hing used one in the very first Wong Fei-Hung movie, which was at some point re-released with the title, "Wong Fei-Hung's Whip that Smacks the Candle". Member DrNgor Posted July 24, 2023 Member Share Posted July 24, 2023 (edited) I think one character uses a whip in the MA-Horror film The Wicked Wife (1981). IIRC, Bai Ying wields one in Stormy Sun (aka Super Man Chu - 1973). A character also appears to wield one in Secret Message (aka The Stomp - 1979) Edited July 24, 2023 by DrNgor

Member DrNgor Posted July 24, 2023 Member Share Posted July 24, 2023 @ShawAngela - You should periodically update the list on the initial post with the films that are mentioned...and in chronological order.

In that case, you can throw in Lau Ching Wan’s protagonist from 2016’s ‘Call of Heroes’.
