Member spannick Posted March 4, 2008 Member Share Posted March 4, 2008 first in the announcement is the Jimmy Wang Yu/Helen Ma Swordsplay Classic THE INVINCIBLE (1972). http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?id=10380&display_set=eng Digitally remastered 2.35 (16:9) from one of the last surviving German Prints, the following has yet to be done: - insert 2 missing snippets on reel changes. - insert the whole 3 mins of the Ending! someone was so clever to give the movie a completely different Ending by cutting it of just before a crucial Moment happens! as there seemingly is no complete Mandarin Print for the Audio, missing parts have to be filled with German Inserts. Yes, this time the German Print is the longest and most violent indeed! Bonus is the German Trailer and one Extended Ending Shot from the Mandarin Print, which can't be inserted due to the horrid Quality on hand. also a Collection of Lobby Cards from Germany. plus the complete German 8mm Version! (47 min) it is planned that the DVD will have ENGLISH SUBTITLES, as we're well aware this movie is very rare now and deserves to be seen by fans worldwide, especially as lots of Money has been invested in the Restoration of this Print. Member spannick Posted March 4, 2008 Author Member Share Posted March 4, 2008 added a videoclip in the first posting (how can i embed that?)
Member HAZ Posted March 4, 2008 Member Share Posted March 4, 2008 This looks amazing. Did you guys consider using Mandarin speakers to do voiceovers for the missing audio? That would have been kinda cool!
Member Winfred Posted March 4, 2008 Member Share Posted March 4, 2008 Helen Ma was criminally underused by Shaws and she should have left much earlier. Were there many movies after Shaws in which she got to play the female lead?
Member spannick Posted March 4, 2008 Author Member Share Posted March 4, 2008 This looks amazing. Did you guys consider using Mandarin speakers to do voiceovers for the missing audio? That would have been kinda cool! would have been cool, but not realistic, being in Germany and all. not so easy to find cheap German Dubbers, let alone Mandarin ones! so sadly, this is simple "no!" Member HAZ Posted March 6, 2008 Member Share Posted March 6, 2008 So, where & when can we get this? Can we buy them direct from yourself & the label? I'm impressed by the dedication to quality - has this company put out anything else? h
Member spannick Posted March 6, 2008 Author Member Share Posted March 6, 2008 will post all info when the DVD is out. there's more Movies in the works, will post that stuff here soon yes, they released one classic KF Movie, but FORGOT (!!!) the English Subs i supplied to them! that was a major letdown, as that Movie was not available to English Speakers in watchable, good uncut Versions before (CHAO CHOW GUY)
Member HAZ Posted March 6, 2008 Member Share Posted March 6, 2008 Never heard of "CHAO CHOW GUY". I'm intrigued. I hope that english subs will be something they add to other releases! I'll buy em all!
Member spannick Posted March 6, 2008 Author Member Share Posted March 6, 2008 he said if sales are good enough he will continue. BUT as this is kind of costly there will be only English Subs if there is no Dub on the same DVD. it's simply a Money Thing and it can't be done anything about that. Member falkor Posted March 6, 2008 Member Share Posted March 6, 2008 Looks superb!! Didn't realise Helen Ma starred in it... After spending so much time on Deaf Mute Heroine, I'm very much looking forward to The Invincible!
Member spannick Posted March 13, 2008 Author Member Share Posted March 13, 2008 also, the well-known "Bruce Lee Ripoff" Movie FIST OF UNICORN (German Title BRUCE LEE UND ICH) is coming to German DVD. struck from a German Print in proper 2.35 (16:9). Not completely digitally restored like THE INVINCIBLE it still is the best-looking DVD worlwide for the most part. some damaged Scenes and very slight censoring has been inserted from lesser Sources. Also on offer are the following Audio Tracks: English and Mandarin, BOTH COMPLETE for the whole Movie, unlike all previous DVD issues from various Companies. Extras will be some German Bruce Lee / Unicorn Chan Features from back then and extensive Photo Galleries.
Member chen lung Posted March 13, 2008 Member Share Posted March 13, 2008 Nice spannick. Kinda unfortunate if it has an English dub (which I do like), it may not feature good English subtitles. Soulblade issued it twice, but they weren't much different from each other I don't think (ratio was messed too). It did have some interesting extras. There was talk of missing footage from Mandarin versions (a 9 minute prologue?). Can you tell us the history of that?
Member spannick Posted March 13, 2008 Author Member Share Posted March 13, 2008 well, that Mandarin Footage is intact in the Version i have. i guess the first Reel hast just gone missing over all these years...
Member spannick Posted March 13, 2008 Author Member Share Posted March 13, 2008 Original BRUCE LEE UND ICH German Bonus Feature, included in the Original German Print after the Movie ends.
Member spannick Posted March 14, 2008 Author Member Share Posted March 14, 2008 also out next Week is BEACH OF THE WARGODS. with our beloved Jimmy Wang Yu in his Swordplay Movie to end all Swordplay Movies. Widescreen 2.35 (16:9), German, English and Mandarin Audio.(German Subtitles) Seems to be uncut, at least it's longer than the French DVD and OF COURSE 9 mins longer than the butchered VCD/VHS Print! Bonus: Extensive Galleries and 2 Trailers (German, Chinese) available here: http://shop.dtm.at/product_info.php?products_id=34494

Member spannick Posted March 18, 2008 Author Member Share Posted March 18, 2008 the LE only has a bigger Hartbox Packaging, nothing else. also, would be easier to recommend stuff if you would say which German DVDs you already got? if there is interest i can post all DVDs by NEW, CMV and other small German Companies who did English-friendly DVDs for these Movies? Member dMG Posted March 19, 2008 Member Share Posted March 19, 2008 if there is interest i can post all DVDs by NEW, CMV and other small German Companies who did English-friendly DVDs for these Movies? Yes please. A thread like that would be awesome and maybe even as a sticky? Infact, it'd be cool with non-english friendly ones aswell just as reference.
