Here's the original image featuring Star Unicorn Chan, taken on the set of FOU.

Isn't there a Chan Wai-Man film with footage of Bruce Lee's press conference? I think it's Chinese Godfather. I wonder if that is the origin of the doctored stills.

They copied Chan Wai-Man's head, from the picture used in this poster for Chinese Godfather(see below). Als starring Betty Ting-Pei. The press conference footage turns up in a lot of Bruceploitation movies. True Game of Death, Bruces Deadly Finger's, The Real Bruce Lee to name a few. Both Betty Ting-Pei and Chan Wai-Man went onto star in the Sing Hoi produced Chivarlous Knight(1974). The exact same movie company who secretly filmed Bruce Lee on set, during making of FOU.

21. When Bruce was on the set from 'Fist Of The Unicorn' they shot footage from him secretly i have seen only a couple of seconds of it, i've heard there is more footage about 3 mins ?? Do you now where it is ?? George Tan said he has it all but on his dvd Fist Of Unicorn there was nothing new.

David Tadman: There is about 5-6 minutes of footage. Brad Walker has the footage, you can contact him. Plus, he made numerous picture captures of Bruce in the footage and he is selling it, not surprised.

This information is from the now sadly gone Bruce Lee Review Forum (John Overall). I thought it would be great to share this very important information with all fans. Hopefully this forum can replace the great one that John ran for the fans. These questions to David Tadman was asked by Leon - a regular poster online at various Bruce Lee sites.

Is this a screen capture from the rare footage mentioned above?. This extra  Behind The Scenes footage may have been in the original Hong Kong print?, only to be reduced in later release. After the Bruce Lee threatened legal action against them, for using his likeness without permission.

This second clearer shot was just taken moment later.

I finally sat down to watch this. It's not very good, and suffers from some really bad pacing issues. Unicorn Chan doesn't even fight until about 54 minutes into the film. I was hoping that it would be better than "typical early 70s basher," but it isn't. Yasuaki Kurata, Whang In-Sik and Ji Han-Jae rise above the rest of the cast, but Whang is woefully misused and Ji shows up in a single cameo to kick and throw people around, and then disappears. Had he teamed up with Unicorn for the finale, I might be better disposed toward the film.

And the film gives us not one, but two annoying characters that studder: the lecherous Chin Ti and a young Mars. And the scene with Chin Ti and the hookers is pretty uncomfortable, for multiple reasons. Those first two prostitutes that Chin insults might not have been minors, but they sure looked like they were. And then the tranvestite...and the mere idea of Chin Ti having sex...*shudders*

Unicorn Chan isn't very convincing as an action hero--and to think that he had choreographed about a half-dozen films before starring in this. I look at him and can't help but see him getting knocked out the Italian in Way of the Dragon ("Jimmy! Jimmy!" "Ah Lung! It's always *Ah Lung!*"). The last time I saw Unicorn Chan was in one of his last films: the 1983 Taiwanese/Korean co-production Shaolin Drunk Fighter, where he plays a supporting villain. By that point, he wasn't so much a "has-been" as a "never-was."

I love this film solely for the Pink Floyd music!

I've always wondered if Unicorn's character in WAY being called "Jimmy" was a slight at Wang Yu, but I don't know if the latter was called that before MAN FROM HONG KONG.

It has its share of supporters. The review I read at the HKMDB was fairly positive, too.

You are correct. There was not a single issue of Golden Movie News pre-73 which referred to him as Jimmy Wang Yu.

Didnt know "Jimmy" was an invention for The Man from Hong Kong! Interesting!

I think Bruce Lee owed a favor to Jimmy Wang Yu, which is why he did Fist of Unicorn.

The Triad connection is interesting. Jimmy has never done a movie with Michael Chan, but Michael was in two movies with Charles Heung (The Delivery and Mysterious Footworks of Kung Fu) despite being members of rival Triads. Then again, Charles was in a movie with Jimmy called A Queen's Ransom (co-starring Lazenby).

Its the same theme as in Shaws' movie, if I'm not mistaken, but I don't remember the title. Or maybe a Wang Yu's movie. at least the beginning, with this kind of sound that reminds me of a petroleum forge, or I don't know what. And at the third segment, it looks like the music froù The Death and mute Heroine, if I remember well. Oh, and there is Ennio Morricone too (actually, I'm writing this comment while I'm listening to the soundtrack !) ! And then a theme used in a Venom's movie, right ?

Talking about soundtracks : I listened to the two cds in the Shawscope boxset, and I must confess that I didn't like any of the theme  I heard ! And they didn't rang a bell at all as being musics that I had heard in the movies mentioned on the track list !
